DESIGN MEETS JOYRIDE - THE MAKING OF BIOMEGA'S LAUNCH VIDEO

What happens when a Scandinavian design icon teams up with a video crew that knows how to ride the line between art and fun? You get Biomega’s Kickstarter campaign video, a cheeky, cinematic joyride through gallery walls, city streets, and everything in between.



Biomega isn’t your average bike brand. Founded by a Norwegian architect with designs so sleek they’ve landed in the MoMA, Biomega bikes are equal parts engineering and art. And with the launch of their new electric lineup, they wanted a campaign video that didn’t just show off the product… It had to feel like a vibe!


The Concept: Art Meets Mischief


We wanted this to be fun, so we pitched a playful concept: A lone visitor strolls into an art gallery, stops at the Biomega bike on display, and after noticing the security guard had dozed off… Takes it for a spontaneous spin through the city. Did he really take it, or was it all just an imaginary joy ride?


...That spinning wheel at the end might be the clue to what really happened. ;)

This wasn’t your typical tech demo or gearhead review.


Biomega wanted to make people smile, and stand out on Kickstarter. So, we gave them a short film that looks like it belongs in a design magazine AND makes you laugh. The tone was deliberate: stylish, slightly surreal, and just the right amount of playful and professional.


From Script to Screen (and Everything in Between)


Biomega didn’t just want a crew with cameras. They needed a full-service NYC video production partner. That’s where we came in. Our Johnnypuetz team managed:


  • Creative development


  • Scriptwriting and storyboarding


  • Casting and crew


  • Location scouting and permits


  • Lighting, props, makeup, and wardrobe


  • Filming with our in-house gear


  • Editing, sound design, and color grading


We even coordinated the photography shoot, building out the visual assets that would carry the campaign across social, press, and digital channels. This wasn’t just a standard video shoot. We handled it all from start to finish. It was a Kickstarter launch toolkit!

Biomega’s team stayed in the loop every step of the way. They had final say on creative, but we handled the heavy lifting… I.E. managing deadlines, handling logistics, and making sure every shot matched the mood. When clients trust us to lead while keeping them fully informed, the process is not just efficient… It’s actually fun. And I think everyone would agree we had a ton of fun with this project!

This wasn’t our first Kickstarter rodeo. In fact, the last Kickstarter campaign we produced hit 250% of its goal. The products/companies we work with are awesome and we can’t take all of the credit (okay, maybe just a little).
