HOW A FEW SMALL VIDEO PRODUCTION JOBS TURNED INTO A DAY AT NASDAQ

In this video production business, it is easy to get caught up in the "gig" mentality. A client needs an interview, you shoot it. They need a social clip, you edit it. You send the invoice, they pay it, and everyone moves on.

But every once in a while, a relationship starts to grow legs.

A few years ago, our work with Space Capital began with a few simple requests for editing services. At the time, it was just about quick turnarounds and clean cuts. We were providing standard technical support for a firm making waves in the space economy.

But we did not want to just be the crew that pushed the buttons. We wanted to understand the mission.

The shift from being a video production vendor to being a partner

Fast forward to today and the landscape looks entirely different. I recently found myself at Nasdaq MarketSite alongside the CEO, overseeing and directing the quarterly report announcements.

It is a surreal jump from a dark editing desk to the control room at the heart of global finance. Looking back, the path was inevitable. When you stop treating a contract as a "to-do list" and start treating it as a shared goal, the nature of the work changes.

Our retainer agreements at johnnypuetz do not last simply because we have cool gear and can make cool videos. They last because we have moved past the "video production" label and into the role of a trusted partner.

Why the partnership outlasts the project

When you are directing a quarterly report for a leader in the space sector, there is no room for error. There is no room for an agency that does not understand the gravity of the announcement or the pace of the room.

We have grown alongside Space Capital because we learned to anticipate what the room needs before the lights even come on. That is the real value of a long-term retainer.

  • Cultural Alignment We know the voice, the tone, and the stakes without being told.

  • Proactive Problem Solving We are not waiting for a brief. We are looking at the upcoming quarter and asking how we can make the message hit harder.

  • Total Trust When you are at Nasdaq, you need to know that your production team is an extension of your own brand.

Growing together

There is a unique kind of professional satisfaction that comes from seeing a client vision scale and knowing you were the one holding the lens through that growth.

We started with a few edits. We ended up directing the narrative at the world's most famous financial intersection.

For us, the goal is not just to make a great video. It is to build the kind of partnership where, three years from now, we are standing in a place we have not even imagined yet.
